Hlane Royal Park

Hlane is a 30 000 hectare conservation area in the lowvelt. This is the lansdscape that is so often associated with Africa and reserves - wide open spaces with flat topped trees in the distance. This land is the traditional hunting preserve of the kings of Swaziland, and here for a few days a year the royal hunting party gathers to hunt in the ancient manner.

Rhino were reintroduced from Natal and have bred so successfully that Hlane became the first reserve to be able to export rhino from an introduced population. The reserve also has lion in a large enclosure, so they are easy to spot. Accommodation ranges from a campsite to self catering huts to furnished stone cottages on the banks of a river.
