Weaving
Swaziland has a long established weaving industry that produces excellent quality and design and has donne so for decades. There are two development projects involving weaving.
Coral Stephens produces very fine quality mohair in Pigg’s Peak. You can walk around the workshop and watch the weavers at work on their looms at the Peak Fine Craft centre, next to the entrance to the Orion Hotel.
Rosecraft produces a variety of mohair goods. Washing, carding, dyeing, spinning and weaving are done on the Rosecraft farm. The finished product is superb, with ranging from bright colours to subtle blends of shades. The farm, although remote, is worth a visit and visitors are welcome to watch production and buy the finished jerseys, shawls, wraps, cushion covers, curtains and bedspreads.
