Malolotja is arguably Swaziland’s finest nature reserve for visitors: it is stunningly beautiful mountainous country and is accessible by tar road. Although this is not traditional African big game country, the incredible silence of the mountains and valleys and the beauty of the streams and waterfalls make this nature reserve well worth visiting. Malolotja has an excellent network of walking trails which range in length from a few hours ramble to a week’s hike. These trails take you through isolated valleys and past tumbling waterfalls in the most remote part of the country. The streams in Malolotja are bilharzia-free.
Accommodation is available in comfortable furnished, self-catering chalets near the main entrance of Malolotja, or in a campsite with ablution blocks.
